The ESV, Wonderfully Gracing My Site

July 26 – Im so happy I placed a daily RSS feed of the ESV Bible on my personal website. It sets the tone for all my other content. Its sort of hard to be tempted to publish unbecoming material when Gods word is prominent just below my logo!

As night owl, I often notice the changeover in my verse at midnight. It makes a good end-of-day devotional. And because I constantly use my site as a sandbox for CSS, HTML, and design, I can watch my site evolve and always know I have a constant design element and theme – Gods word.

My pastor, Timothy J. Keller, often uses the ESV when preaching. Below my feed, I’ve placed an audio player with a wonderful weekly sermon in MP3 format. I think I began to trust the ESV more when I noticed that, whenever he or other preachers say something like, The original text is better translated as such-and-such, I can check my ESV and find that “such-and-such” is more often than not the text I find.

I think there is a place for Gods word on just about any website. I would love to share and compare with other bloggers to find unique and truly useful ways to use The Holy Bible, English Standard Version to set our sites apart with the best content on the Internet: Gods eternal, life-giving truth.

    Paul,

I learned of your blog through the ESV Blog and have also added the ESV feed to my new blog. Thanks for your inspiring use of the Lord's Word.

    Hey man,

I also saw you on the ESV blog. I've been using the ESV feed for my blog (JakeBouma.com) for a couple of years now. I agree with you in that it has a power of accountability for what you post. I am actually in the process of redesigning my site, and I'm going from a 3-column layout to a 2-column layout. As such, I have to cut down on the information displayed, and the ESV is going to remain prominently displayed!

    Blessings, brother.
